You're six months now, Piper. I think it's time I level with you. Sometimes.....your mom doesn't have it all together.
I know. Shocked face.
I really tried to write updates for you every month to remember what you were up to at each stage....But occasionally time got away from me, and I was lucky to have some chicken scratch notes, when I really would have liked a comprehensive journal. And to be 100% honest? You're actually almost 16 months old now, and I'm digging through the archives here to finish up all the half completed drafts I have from your earlier days. So this month's entry may not be quite as thorough as I'd like. But you still love me right?
- You weigh 17lbs, are 26" long, and your head is 18" around.
- You are set up with The Alliance for Infants and Toddlers to finally fix your crooked neck. We met with a representative and got you all scheduled for physical therapy. I was hesitant to do anything about it because it seemed that acknowledging it meant you had a serious problem, but now that we finally did, I realize a little extra attention from an expert each week can't hurt you. Plus it's free!
- You're starting to become a real person. I mean, you always were real but you're developing your own unique personality, you're showing you understand us more and you even recognize your name. It's so fun to get a glimpse of who you'll grow up to be.
- You got your first really bad cold. Your little hoarse voice was so sad. But even sadder- you passed your sickness on to me. Gave it to me. Thanks but no thanks.
- You're making "friends" at daycare. I know you're forced into it but it's still fun to get little presents and notes from the other parents around holidays.
- You're not on a schedule per say, (and the minute I get used to anything you change it) but you're getting in a more consistent night time pattern. Bedtime is around 7:30-8:30 depending on your last meal, and then I can typically count on an 11 and a 4 o clock feed followed by a 7 am wake up call. Occasionally you'll squeeze in a 2 am cryfest. Again- thanks but no thanks.
- You're sitting up. I was so proud of you I cried. Lame I know, but it just seemed like a pivotal moment in watching you grow up. You'll understand when you have kids some day. (Oh man, now I'm really lame.)
- You don't cry when you go in car seat. (Spoiler alrert...this will not last forever).
- You're getting better at naps.
- You still love your ergo.
- Your hair is getting really long (comparatively speaking) so we're trying more bows.
- You're very smiley and are constantly charming people with your little grin.
- You can say "dada". We're not 100% sure you know what it means, but you like to jabber on, and it's adorable to hear. Now if you would just learn Mama!
Love you, sweet girl. Now, then, forever.
